Margiela denim is almost as prevalent in the fashion vernacular as their Tabi boot, this detailed vest was produced during a period where the maison was helmed by a seemingly faceless design team and (one of my personal favourite designers) Matthieu Balzy's direction for artisanal - taking over RTW in 2012.
The vest itself is an exceptional construction, without a collar or finished hems. The design lines and oversized patch pockets contradict the initial suggestion of simple, contrasting denim wash details also add to the considered details that create new dimensions. Additional in seam pockets add to its functional quality, brass press studs finish the work wear inspired aesthetic.
The iconic white thread insignia is visible at the nape of the neck. The piece is from Line 1, the white label signifies a runway piece.
